Perhaps I’m a bit jaded, but the story was too predictable for me. As an allegory, it worked … okay, but some of the parallels made me roll my eyes a bit. The story might have benefited by cutting the second half where the allegory is explained, or by trimming it down significantly. The concept is interesting, and the writing proficient, but it didn’t really seem to go anywhere at all. It is a quick, enjoyable read, but nothing remarkable.
