My rating: 4 of 5 stars
I picked up this book while in the middle of James Patterson’s masterclass (highly recommended, btw). I’m not much for suspense novels, but I enjoyed this. As Patterson says, “the pages turn themselves.” It was a quick read, partly due to the pace, driving you to read on, and partly because there isn’t a whole lot of depth to the story. Many of the characters seemed almost interchangeable, but a few of the main characters were complex, interesting people I truly cared about. The enjoyment of the story is in finding the solution, and once the solution is found the story is nearly forgettable. In general, I like complex stories with a deeper meaning, but that’s not everyone’s preference. It’s enjoyable, quick, good entertainment, but nothing life-changing.
