So it’s been a year since the pandemic started. The last day of in-person school for my kids was March 13, 2020. Their school district is going back at the end of this month, but my kids will continue distance learning.

As I’m sure you’ve noticed, I had to step back from my blog for a while. I have been completely overwhelmed trying to get through this past year. I made it through NaNoWriMo, but haven’t been great about writing besides that. I have been enjoying reading though!
What I’ve been up to:
* Writing: Currently finishing up the first draft of a fantasy novel that I began during NaNoWriMo 2020. I don’t have a title for it yet. I’m also working on a few drabbles and short stories for submission. I have a few finished short stories that I’m looking to submit if I can find a place.
* Reading: Currently reading: Zen in the Art of Writing by Ray Bradbury and Why We Can’t Wait by MLK, jr. I’m deliberately trying to expand my knowledge of race relations by reading books by Black authors. Once I finish MLK’s book, I have a few others on my tbr list.
* Misc: Still posting over on instagram. I’m trying to get into Twitter, but not quite there yet. I ask now a mod for a small writing group on fb, so that’s new. I’m also working through Jon Acuff’s Soundtracks course after finishing his Overcoming Overthinking Challenge. I’ve absolutely loved the way my internal monologue is altering.
* Personal stuff: I sit through kindergarten with my son every morning, which is super fun. I’ve been on the AIP diet for seven months, which has drastically improved my health. The kids and I play Just Dance nearly every day, which is so much fun. I’m currently preparing for Easter. We always hide eggs in our front yard for neighbors to find on their walks, so I enjoy seeing kids stop to pick up an egg and find the stickers/little toy inside.

Anyway, this is just a brief check-in to let you know I’m still here. My blog had just been dart on the back-burner for now. Hopefully once life resumes in a few months I’ll have more time and energy to blog, but for now, I’m doing the best I can.
