“Blue!” A four-year-old girl with bright blue eyes and bouncy blonde curls picked up her gingerbread man, moving it forward.

I drew a card. Lollipop. Way too early for that. “Look how cute the kitty is.” I pointed behind her.

“Where?”

As she turned, I swiped my card for the next card on top.

“Aww, he must’ve moved. Yellow,” I added, moving my piece.

She drew. “I got the lollipop!” She danced in place, then moved her figure.

My turn. Popsicles. Seriously? I pointed behind her. “There’s the kitty!”

But she was on to me. I braced for waterworks.
