After participating in two Jon Acuff challenges earlier in the year, I was excited when Jon announced the “Back to” Challenge starting in September. Accordding to research, the second most popular time to set goals (after New Year’s) is September – it’s when summer winds down and school starts. The Back to Challenge was much like Jon’s other challenges – a whirlwind 5 days of free live lessons on facebook. There were some amazing lessons about trying to stay in the “Momentum zone,” with the biggest takeaway being that I need to be more consistent if I want to achieve my goals.
So of course, when Jon challenged everyone to join a 90 day challenge called the “Full Potential Challenge,” I was totally on board. Basically, the purpose is to pick three minor actions and complete them as often as you can for the next 90 days.

The challenge started Oct 2, so we’re about two weeks in. My 3 actions are: 1) 10 minutes of quiet/prayer time, 2) 15 minutes of fun, and 3) daily positive affirmations. These have been challenging for me to keep, but I’ve definitely seen improvement.
This past week, Jon taught about keeping an “honest calendar.” Oh my gosh, did that hit home. I use my Panda Planner on a regular basis, but I wasn’t getting as much done as I had hoped – and it was because I wasn’t being honest with my schedule. I love Jon’s concept of picking a few “Big week wins” (goals) for the upcoming week and scheduling a specific time to do them. I’m looking forward to putting that system into place next week to see how it goes. Another one of the things Jon said was, “if you keep putting off one of your to-dos, maybe it’s not actually that important.” That one hit hard. I’m looking at evaluating where my priorities actually are. It’s been a good time of self-reflection.
Finally, the last point that really hit me was “anything worth doing is worth doing poorly.” I’ve been putting off blogging because I feel like I don’t have any great content, or, if I do, I don’t have enough time to write it well to do it justice. That stops now. Now you get my crappy, stream of conscious blogs. Of course, some will be good, but no promises!
