This past week has been pretty productive in terms of writing. I’ve done more editing on Zombie Love – it’s flying along. I’m trying to get back to doing Monday Microfiction, so we’ll see how that goes. I have a couple stories out on submission, and I keep checking in to see if there are any new calls that might fit stories I’ve already written. Mostly though, I’m focusing on Zombie Love.
However, I did write a new first chapter for Adventures on the Epi, and it was well-received by the ladies in my writing group. I had such a fun time writing it, and I made myself laugh out loud several times. It’s a much better opening than the first chapter I had originally (which is now going to become chapter 2). The new opening gives us all the pirates on a raid before all the craziness starts to happen and gave me a great opportunity to describe the ship and crew more leisurely instead of at the crazy-fast pace I originally had. My writing group had few comments (and those they did have were very helpful). I’m quite happy with how Epi is shaping up.
In terms of reading, I just finished Damn the Rejections. It was such a fun read – lots of tips for writing as well as a general idea about how the publishing industry works. I’m just about halfway done with the Subtle Knife (His Dark Materials #2). I have a huge stack of books in my TBR pile, so I’m trying to make progress as much as I can!
