This past week has been busy (the past month, really). I haven’t gotten a ton of writing done this week, but I’m still chugging along, mostly working on Zombie Love. I’m now 33k into my more recent draft, and it’s going pretty quickly because there honestly isn’t that much that needs to be changed, thankfully. I also spent some time working through the next chapter of the Epi – the second raid in the book. It was great fun to write.
In terms of reading, I started the Earthsea series. I’m about 80 pages into the first book and am enjoying it so far. I also started two new mangas on Manta, which I got because I needed to read Under the Oak Tree. Neither of the two new mangas are all that great, but they are entertaining and light reading, which is a nice break. In non-fiction, I’ve been reading Prayer in the Night, and I just started Murder Your Darlings, a sort of best-of writing advice book. Both are wonderful reads.
We took our kids to see Wicked last Wednesday, and they both loved it. It was my third time seeing it, and it was just as good as every other time. I enjoyed seeing the different interpretations of Glinda and Elphaba – I feel like Glinda gets more over-the-top every time I see the show. My son had a hard time staying awake for the whole thing, but he made it! He also was really excited to hear songs he recognized – we prepped for about a month in advance so that he would know what was going on.
On a personal note, I got a new car this weekend! My old Honda Fit is finally done. At 115k miles and at 13 years old with no working A/C, it was time to tradee her in. We got a new electric car, which I’m really excited about. But the most exciting thing is that I did not need to do anything to get the car besides confirm that I like it and pick the colors – my husband did all the paperwork and negotiation. I love him so much.

After we got the car, my husband and I celebrated by playing Hunt a Killer for 3 hours. We had such a fun time and are looking forward to the next box. If you want to know more, check out this post about the game.

We’ve also been cleaning like crazy. In the Before Times, we used to have our house open every Friday for friends to stop by, eat, play games, and hang out. With covid, that obviously was put on pause. But now we’re looking to get back at it, starting this week and continuing bi-weekly until I can manage weekly again. We’re really looking forward to hanging with our friends again, but there’s a lot of prep work to do!
