The Hidden Tools of Comedy: The Serious Business of Being FunnyThe Hidden Tools of Comedy: The Serious Business of Being Funny by Steve Kaplan
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book is phenomenal if you’re interested in writing humor. (Also likely helpful if you’re acting, directing, or doing stand-up, but those aren’t my focus.) I loved the different concepts the author lays out and the way to implement them. The specific examples from television and film are particularly helpful. I’m not exaggerating when I say this book changed the way I look at comedy writing, and I’ll be referring back to it again and again.
